Mini Meditations

Inducing a simple, light state of relaxation is easy.
Simply find a nice comfortable chair, breathe deeply, close your eyes and count down from 3... 2... 1... then say to yourself (either aloud or with your inner voice) "completely relaxed."
When you say the number "3", imagine the entire top of your body relaxing, including (and especially) your forehead, jaw, cheeks and shoulders.
When you say the number "2", imagine your chest, arms and abdomen relaxing.
Create a picture in your mind of tension flowing out of your body and peace and relaxation flowing in.
When you say the number "1", imagine your butt, thighs, calves, and feet relaxing thoroughly.
Continue to breathe deeply and to relax.
How long will you remain in this state?
As long as you tell yourself to. The subconscious contains an amazingly accurate clock. Tell yourself you'd like to drift off to sleep and be completely awake and alert in the morning and you will. Tell yourself you'd like to return to full consciousness in five minutes and you will. However, feel free to have an alarm clock in the room with you when you do this.
The larkinhypnotherapy.com blog will post regular meditations. You can tell yourself that you will return to full consciousness after repeating the meditations, say, ten times.
Or you can count back up from 1 to 3, telling yourself that you will return to full consciousness, alert and awake, when you reach the number 3.
Remember, the job of your subconscious is to keep you safe, healthy, and happy. Let it do its job!
